On behalf of Chef Cavanaugh, Chef Carson and our entire staff, welcome to John J. Jeffries. Located in the heart of Lancaster city in an old tobacco warehouse, John J. Jeffries’ unique approach to dining is based on our belief of a sustainable Lancaster and a local food-based economy.

The restaurant is named after an actual tobacco inspector from the late 1800s, whose signed inspection stamp (November 5, 1890) was found in the floor beams during renovations. Our ties to historic Lancaster County don’t stop there. During his first two months in Lancaster, Chef Cavanaugh visited small, family farms dotting the countryside to source the perfect ingredients.
He was invigorated to find that those farms are as passionate about growing produce and raising healthy livestock, as the chefs at John J. Jeffries are about cooking it.

One trip to our restaurant and you’ll see that we have designed our menu on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture. We invite you to join us and taste the difference of local “farm to table” sustainable cuisine.
